Navigating the Eclipse Portal: 5 Ways to Stay Grounded in the In-Between
We are officially in the heart of eclipse season—that intense, magical cosmic corridor anchored between the recent Solar Eclipse and the upcoming Lunar Eclipse.
If I’m being completely honest, I’ve really felt this energy pulling me up and down over the last couple of weeks. One minute I’m cruising along smoothly, feeling calm and centered, and the next—just like buses—a whole series of unexpected events lands all at once to completely topple my momentum. If your mood or energy levels have felt equally chaotic, please know you are not alone!
In astrology, the space between two eclipses acts as a portal. The Solar Eclipse opens new doors and plants seeds of transformation, while the approaching Lunar Eclipse prepares us to release what no longer serves us. In this whirlwind of high-vibrational shifts and rapid realignment, it’s completely normal to feel a bit unmoored.
The secret to navigating this cosmic ride isn’t trying to force control or rush ahead. It’s learning to sit comfortably right here, right now.
The space between eclipses is an invitation to master the art of being in the moment. When the energy around us feels dynamic and unpredictable, our internal world must become our anchor.
Here are 5 simple ways to stay grounded, centered, and present during this eclipse portal:
1. Reconnect with Physical Touch & Breath
When celestial energy pulls your awareness up into your head, bring your attention back down into your body. I wanted to share the one I have been doing at the beginning of my yoga classes. Practice a quick 3-minute grounding breath: place one hand over your heart and one on your belly. Inhale slowly for a count of four, hold for four, and exhale for six. Feel the physical rise and fall of your chest. This simple tactile anchor signals to your nervous system that you are safe in the present moment. You can do this at any time or any place all you need is you, and your breath.
2. Move Softly & Mindfully
Rather than high-intensity bursts that add heat to an already intense cosmic climate, lean into slow, intentional movement. Press pause and give yourself permission to be you without judgment or expectation with something like a nourishing Yin flow, gentle somatic stretching, or a slow walk in nature allows your body to process high-frequency energetic shifts without overwhelm. Pay focus to how your feet feel connecting with the mat or the earth beneath you.
3. Create a Daily Ritual of "Noticing"
Being present is a sensory practice. Engage all five senses throughout your day to stay tethered to the now. Notice the warmth of your morning tea against your hands, the texture of the surface underneath your feet, the scent of essential oils on your wrists, or the exact shade of the afternoon light. By honoring micro-moments, you strip away the anxiety of what comes next.
4. Release the Urge to Force Answers
Eclipse seasons are notorious for bringing sudden clarity, but that revelation often arrives in its own time—not on our demand. If you’re feeling unsure about a major decision, practice surrendering to the void. Remind yourself: I don't need to have everything figured out today. Allow the space between the eclipses to be a period of observation rather than immediate action.
5. Clear Your Sacred Space
Our physical surroundings mirror our internal energy. Take time to declutter your immediate environment—light a stick of palo santo or sage, open the windows to let fresh air circulate, and tidy up your resting space. Creating a calm, intentional sanctuary at home gives your mind a peaceful place to land when the outside world feels chaotic.
Embracing the Now
This eclipse corridor isn't a race to the finish line; it’s a sacred breathing space. As we move toward the Lunar Eclipse, trust that whatever is meant for you will find you, and whatever falls away is simply making room for your growth.
Step onto your mat, take a deep breath, and wrap yourself in softness. You are exactly where you need to be.
