The Story of a Dragonfly (and Why Every Single Order Matters)

The Story of a Dragonfly (and Why Every Single Order Matters)

Last week, I had one of those heart in the mouth moments for a small business.

An order had just come through online for a dragonfly brooch. I went to the store  to pack it up, only to realise the worst-case small-business scenario: I had just sold the last one in person and hadn't managed to update the stock count online in time.

I immediately reached out to the customer to apologise and shock horror, in a world so used to next day delivery she was prepared to wait, that’s when she told me the story behind it. She was heading off on a special holiday in just a couple of days, and this little dragonfly was meant to be the finishing touch on her trip.

Now, I could have simply issued a polite refund and called it a day. But if you know me, you know I couldn't just leave it at that.

I pulled out every single stop. I reached out to our makers, moved heaven and earth, had a new brooch crafted in record time, and rushed it through priority dispatch. It arrived at her door with a full day to spare before she boarded her flight.

When she messaged me to say it had arrived—and how much it meant to her—it reminded me exactly why I do what I do.

Beyond the Product: Connecting through Joy

Whether it’s making sure a piece of jewelry arrives in time for a cherished holiday, designing activewear that makes you feel strong and radiant, or welcoming you onto the mat for a morning Vinyasa or Pilates class, nothing is ever "just a transaction" to me.

Behind every order number on Eluroom, there is a person looking for a little dose of beauty, comfort, or confidence. Behind every booking on the mat there is someone taking time out of a busy week to move, breathe, and reconnect with themselves.

I treasure each and every one of you.

Running a independent brand and teaching movement means wearing a hundred different hats a day—from inventory checks and email updates to teaching classes and hand-wrapping parcels. But the true heart of it all is connection. Getting to share in your uplifting moments, your personal breakthroughs on the mat, or your excitement for a special trip fills my cup completely.

A Visual Reminder to Rise

There’s a lovely bit of poetry in the fact that it was the dragonfly brooch that sparked this whole moment. In so many traditions, the dragonfly represents transformation, light, adaptability, and joy—a reminder to live in the moment and embrace the sunshine.

To my lovely customer: I hope that little dragonfly brings you so much magic on your travels!

And to every single one of you who has bought a piece from Eluroom, stepped onto a mat with me, or shared a kind word—thank you for letting me be a small part of your story. You make every bit of effort so deeply worth it.

With so much love and gratitude

Rebecca
