Story behind the masks

I would never have thought in a million years I would be making face masks.
It all started in March 2020.  I got involved with a volunteer group making PPE for the NHS.  I made wash bags, scrubs caps and face masks.  Naturally I made some for myself.  I found them to be heavy and sweaty and hard to see the ground.  I nearly fell down some stairs wearing one.  They also made me feel claustrophobic.  Taking the specifications for and effective face mask I modified the patterns so it sculpted the face making it flattering and easier to see with.  I sourced light weight fabrics such as cotton voile and silk.  Most of this was upcycled.  I also made metallic and sequinned ones.  I figured if we had to wear one it may as well be glamourous.
