When it comes to dressing with confidence in midlife, building a wardrobe that works for you is key. Look at what you already have.  Do you know 80% of our wardrobe goes unworn? Start by assessing your lifestyle. Like everything in life it has changed.  Does your wardrobe meet your needs? Consider how much time and energy you want to dedicate to your wardrobe each day - do you want something low-maintenance, or are you willing to put in a little extra effort? Take stock of any items that already work for your body shape and colouring. You can do this by noting what you wear in an average week.  Hang is on a different hanger or fold in a different place.  What do you love about these pieces and how they work for you?  These are your wardrobe essentials.  Determine what pieces need replacing. You will also get an idea of what is missing, You  can start shopping for items that flatter your body shape while still expressing your personal style. When shopping online or in stores, take note of how each item fits and looks on you - if it doesn't fit quite right or feel comfortable, don't buy it!

Make Sure Your Clothes Fit

One of the most important things to consider when dressing with confidence is making sure your clothes fit properly. You don't want clothes that are too tight or too loose - they just won't hang right and will make you feel uncomfortable. Nothing worse than spending a day wanting to take something off as it's pinching, itchy or keeps slipping down.  Try or buy a few sizes, sizing is totally unstandardised never hold yourself to being a size x all your life in everything. When it comes to fit, comfort should always come first!

Accessorise With Confidence

You know my mantra metallics are a neutral.  What better place to start then with accessories to turn the fine into fab.  Focus a on a few key/statement pieces.   Statement pieces like scarves, necklaces, or a great pair of earrings will help to bring your outfit together. If you are feeling bold or want to try a new colour, try out some statement accessories such as a bright belt or shoes. These can be especially effective when transforming a desk to dinner look.  Flats to heels, a bold necklace.  Job done. Accessories a fun way express yourself and show off your personality!

When it comes to dressing with confidence in midlife, quality is more important than quantity. Investing in a few key pieces that fit well and flatter your figure will always look better than a closet full of ill-fitting, low-quality clothing. When you find clothes that you love, take the time to make sure they fit perfectly before buying them. If necessary, get them tailored so they fit your body shape exactly. You'll be amazed at how much more confident and stylish you feel when you wear properly fitting clothes! Focus on finding timeless pieces that can be worn season after season. Look for classic items like blazers, trousers, skirts, and dresses that are made with high-quality materials such as leather, wool or silk.
